If you’re one of the many people in town to discover the tastiness of a lunch from the deli at the Co-op, you may have noticed, like I have, that it’s sometimes hard to find a parking space in front of the store. Business has been booming recently for the Hendersonville Community Co-op, so their planned expansion to a larger space on Spartanburg Highway is coming just in time to meet the local demand for healthy food and natural products. And a new, larger building will mean more seating for folks eating at the Blue Mountain Deli—sometimes an empty table is harder to find than a parking space!
Paul Kovacich of Falderal Winery is arguably the most local of local professional winemakers, and this year he’s continuing to source local and regional fruits to enhance some of the bottles of fine wine that the downtown Hendersonville winery produces on a year-round basis.

Unfortunately, a late spring freeze nixed the possibility of using locally grown grapes this season, but there’s a lot that Falderal has been using in the way of other fruit for its 2012 wines, like apples, peaches, and berries. There’s a peach wine currently in the fermentation process in the winemaking cellar at Falderal. The peaches were grown in South Carolina and bought here in town at Macabee’s fruit stand. Who of us hasn’t dreamed about being in a rock band? Confession: When I was a kiddo, I used to play music in my room and sing into the mirror with a brush (or anything I could imagine was a microphone) in my hands. I’m not going to tell you the names of the bands, because I would be dating myself, but the alphabet (ABC) and the natural elements (Earth, Air, Fire, Water) were definitely part of the mix.
Here’s a fantastic opportunity for your musical kids to be part of a real band! The Rock Band Program at Jim Beaver’s School of Music is starting new bands this month. Imagine how much fun it will be for the kids to rock out in a safe and educational environment. It might just be the most fun they could have while learning.
If this sounds fun, check it out. At Jim Beaver’s, they accept kids in the program that have little experience to very experienced, and it doesn’t matte which instrument your child plays — chances are, there’s room.

People intrigue me. Every day I realize more and more how connected we all are. In some way, some how, some one you hardly know may make your life a little richer.
I’m lucky that way. Our website has a new feature for which a Local Leader(s) is featured on our home page. Eventually it will be a paid feature, but for now, I’m enjoying the opportunity of getting to know ~ and sharing ~ interesting mini biographies of our community’s leaders who have joined the RelyLocal campaign, and who have made a conscious effort to support other local business owners, non- and not-for-profit community organizations and our economy.
